Ally McCoist is one of the most popular UK football pundits around.
You just cannot hate the former Rangers and Scotland striker.
McCoist was on top form once again at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Scotsman commentated on games for ITV, often alongside Clive Tyldesley.
McCoist provided some expert analysis and was also thoroughly entertaining to listen to.
A few weeks have passed since the World Cup came to an end.
And he’s now told a comical story of meeting Roy Keane on an empty beach while out in Qatar.
In truth, the story isn’t all that amazing. But McCoist’s hilarious way of telling the encounter made for hilarious viewing.

McCoist said on talkSPORT: “I’ve got a belter from the World Cup, we had the afternoon off and I thought, ‘I’m gonna get down the beach for an hour’, because I like a wee swim.”
“So I walk down the beach, which is right next to the hotel and the beach – I’m telling you – nobody. Nobody was on the beach. Nobody.
“Now, it wasn’t a massive beach, it was big enough. One sun-bed, away up the left-hand side, Roy’s sitting on it. And he’s got the headphones on.
“He’s the only person on the beach and I’m thinking to myself, ‘there’s no danger, absolutely no danger that he wants to see me’.
“Initially, I thought I’d pull up my sunbed right next to him, turn on the Rammstein and see where it takes us! I nearly did.
“I thought he would have killed me! I thought I’d pull up next to him, put on the Rammstein and have a chat with him. But I didn’t.
“I walked up to him, all the way up the beach and he’s sitting there with his headphones on. He opens one eye, looks at me and removes one headphone.
“I said, ‘you’ll be delighted to hear, I’m not gonna sit next to you, I’m gonna leave you alone, I just wanted to say hello’.
“And he looked at me, closed his left eye, puts his ear plug back in and stuck a thumb up! And that was it.”
